Hi there, friend. It’s certainly been a little while since I have given you the love and attention you deserve, via recipes, photography, fit-tips, and witticisms, but I’m starting to pull myself back to the blogging world little by little.
I took a little unannounced hiatus for a couple reasons. One is that I moved. I’m taking a bit of a journey by stepping out of my comfort zone and am trying out a new place. And sometimes, when that happens, normal life gets thrown out of whack. You know what I mean?
The other reason for my disappearance is actually quite exciting. I’ve hinted at it before, but now that it’s almost done… I’m writing a cookbook! That’s right, it’s my very first cookbook, due out sometime in 2016! I have been baking, cooking, recipe-developing, and photographer-ing since March this year, and am almost ready to send in my final pieces of work.
What is it? 200 brand-new protein powder-based recipes of all kinds. You really wouldn’t believe all the things you can do with protein powder… let alone how useful and delicious the addition of protein powder can really be… until you try it. And let me tell you… I’ve tried almost everything.
No, wait. That’s not true. If anything, I’ve probably barely scratched the surface. It is SO versatile it just blows my mind.
This week, my first deadline – the 200 finished recipes – has just been reached, and it has taken every ounce of my baking strength and willpower to, well, let’s be honest… stand near a hot oven in the middle of an Arizona summer. But besides the constant sauna-like conditions in my kitchen, 200 is quite a few recipes, and in order to develop (from scratch,) test, and sometimes re-test, that many recipes does take some dedication.
Believe me though… it has been worth it! And delicious. Toooo delicious. My extremely tight-fitting pants prove it. Now that I’m able to take a break from having to test, like, 10 new kinds of delicious things every day, I am looking forward to getting myself back in fighting shape while I craft the remainder of the book.
This means ditching the bad habits I’ve created, like mindless snacking, not paying attention to meal timing, and basically just overeating in general! I’ve also made excuses to – gasp – not work out very often. So not like me! But we all know it happens from time to time. It just means it’s that much more important to REALLY have a plan and stick to it, until the bad habits are re-replaced with your good ones!
So that’s where I am now. As I tackle the final additions to my cookbook, I’ll be trying to check in here more often and keep you updated on my back-to-fitness journey, and give you my best-ever tips along the way! We can keep each other accountable through mutual encouragement, okay? Definitely send me your thoughts by way of Facebook (visit me here), Twitter, or in the comments below, and we can start the conversation about fitness setbacks and goals right now!
PS. If you comment, Facebook message, or Tweet me something really useful, inspirational, or just a great question, I’ll give you a shout-out on my social media!
